Overnight Stays

Knowing you're safe at night

Best of Care can provide a personal carer to stay overnight. This gives you a worry-free sleep knowing that you have support and assistance through the night if you need it.

Overnight respite has two different styles.

Upright sleepovers

An Upright Sleepover is when the personal carer sits up monitoring the person all through the night. Duties might include wound dressing changes, refreshments, observations and personal care.

Lie down sleepovers

A Lie Down Sleepover is when the personal carer also lies down to sleep at night but will get up to check the person at specified intervals if required. The cost of this type of sleepover is less than an Upright Sleepover. Both these services may be eligible for Government funding. A Best of Care Co-ordinator can assist you with exploring your options.

The overnight personal carer would typically help the client settle for the night, and would assist with the morning routine of bathing and breakfast.

Palliative Overnight Care

It is rewarding to support a loved one who chooses to remain to spend the last moments of their life in their own home, rather than seeing them go to hospital. Though if the family is suffering from a broken nights' sleep due to the level of care required, it can be exhausting too. Overnight care may be just the right thing to give some much needed respite for family members.

Best of Care provide overnight care in conjunction with the Barwon Health Palliative Care Team (also known as Hospice), to help families and people suffering from a palliative illness feel comfortable and in control. The Best of Care palliative care team can provide you and your family practical support through this difficult time.

As with all our services, Best of Care listens to your needs and fits the care plan to your needs.
