Staying in your own home with homecare services

Increase your freedom from the everyday chores with the support from our homecare services, tailored to meet your needs, and with a carer that you get along with.

Best of Care take great care to ensure that the Personal Carer introduced to the home is matched with the individual needs of the person. Age, interests, cultural requirements, and personality aspects are all respected and considered, ensuring that the home care is harmonious to the patient.

Assistance with daily living activities, companionship, light housework, bathroom help, shopping and outings are all activities that can be organised. Your Best of Care Co-ordinator can organise a plan to suit you.

Our Care Co-ordinators understand that initiating an in-home service can sometimes be daunting for the individual. Often the person is used to having the same care giver around (usually a family member) and may feel some resistance to what they see as an outsider. Our Care Co-ordinator will assist with an introduction that takes gentle small steps making it comfortable for all parties.

For many people with a disability, or those who are frail aged, the need to live independently at home is of paramount importance: they would far prefer to stay at home rather than move into an institutionalised setting. Local family members are generally seen as the first line of assistance, but it's not always the best answer as they often have other commitments.

It is empowering when a person can get assistance without the feeling of being dependent on their family. Best of Care offers this help, allowing the family time to be "quality time". A bit of extra help with the mundane things can make all the difference to an independent person's life, and can give more time back for the things they really care about.

Jack's right at home

Best of Care organised a programme for a gentleman at home who made the statement: "The old man I shall become will be quite different from the man I am now. Another life is beginning".

Jack is enjoying life at home with Best of Care's support after deciding he didn't want to move to a nursing home.

Older people who can no longer manage as well on their own are increasingly receiving home care in their own home rather than moving into a hostel or nursing home prematurely. Sometimes a trip to the supermarket, a visit to the park, buying stamps at the post office or running out to buy the daily newspaper becomes so difficult that a person can become a prisoner in their own home, and become unable to take care of the necessities.

Jack found that by using Best of Care, he could be in charge of how he lived at home. Jack's main concern regarding staying in his home was that he could have a fall during the night so this was resolved by Jack choosing to have a personal carer coming to stay overnight.

Jack enjoys visiting his beloved horses with the aid of a Best of Care personal carer by his side. The best assistance is unobtrusive. Personal Carers who quietly get things done help support a person's dignity. At Best of Care we want you to be the "captain of your own ship".
